Los Altares
Regular price $27.00Smooth and approachable with notes of cocoa, red apple and hazelnut.
Los Altares is a family-run farm in Palencia, east of Guatemala City, where Guadalupe Alberto “Beto” Reyes and his family have transformed a region once little known for coffee. Since planting in 2012, they’ve helped put Palencia on the map, building a farm that is as much about heritage as it is about innovation.
At 1,850 meters, Caturra trees thrive in the area’s microclimate. Processing follows an anaerobic washed method: cherries are fermented in sealed tanks before being washed and dried with close attention to detail. Investments in the wet mill have allowed the Reyes family to separate and track lots more precisely, raising quality year after year.
The result is a textured and approachable cup. Look for chocolate tones alongside dried fruit and brown sugar sweetness, with a smooth medium body and lingering finish.
