A household name here at Black Fox, Daterra is a farm that produces warm and comforting coffees with all the notes we love about South American lots, and perhaps a wink more.
At Daterra, Luis Pascoal has been experimenting with different growing and processing methods to explore the potential of each harvest. For longer partnerships, like their 15yr relationship with The Barn, Luis will section off parts of Daterra's farm into private lots. These coffees are usually released under the name "Daterra Our Plot" and we've seen similar bags from our other roasting partners like Coffee Collective.
This is a naturally processed coffee as is common in Brazil. You may discover a little of that funky fruit common in naturals — think jammy fruits and pecans — but really this coffee is about texture. Along with a lower caffeine content, look for soft acidity, creamy stone fruit and lingering hazelnut.
