Kainamui

Kenyan coffees come and go but one thing stays the same; that juicy, blackberry acidty and that big ripe sweetness.

We also see a handful of washing stations show up regularly every year as another roaster we are working with falls into the grasp of their intoxicating profiles.

One of those washing stations is Kainamui. A coffee we see a lot but never from Square Mile. This washing station is run by the Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society and is located in the Kirinyaga County of Kenya (a region we know for 'pink' fruit flavors).

The station utilizes dry fermentation over a 24-36 hour period. Most commonly used in Guatemala, we find this style of fermentation leads to more orange in the cup.

The resulting coffee is sweet and full of dark fruits. The traditional barrel roaster they use at Square Mile will give you more body, more toffee and more backbone.
