Juicy, sweet and bursting with ripe fruit. This Kenyan is a classic Nyeri lot.

We welcome Detour Coffee to our menu with this tasty Kenyan number that will not disappoint.

The coffee comes from the Ruthaka Farmers Cooperative in Nyeri, Kenya. The producers from this co-op take they're cherry to the Ruarai Factory (washing station) to be process and that's why we see Rurai on the label of this one.

Ruarai means "a place of rocks," paying homage to the rocks flowing in the nearby Ruarai river that is pushed through fallows for fermenting. Once the coffee is de-pulped and sorted for density, the parchment is fermented for 16 to 24 hrs before being washed and soaked in the river for 16 to 18 hours, then dried on raised beds for 21 days.

This coffee gives us a classic Nyeri profile. It's bursting with sweetness, it's jammy and as vibrant as they get. We taste raspberry, ripe fruits and blackcurrant.
