Notes of mandarin, pineapple, white grapes and lingering toffee make this an extremely balanced cup of coffee.

Rwandan coffees are too few and far between in our opinion. We love that they are a celebration of the Red Bourbon variety and with our preference at Black Fox being refined, washed process coffees it's hard to look past the quality of those found in Rwanda.

Gitesi is a pretty famous washing station around these parts. We see it pop up a lot with many of our roasting partners who manage to secure small amounts of the coffee processed at this Western Province collection point.

Here is how Square Mile are describing the lot they purchased:

"Father-son team Alexis and Aime Gahizi routinely deliver sparkling coffees from their private washing station, processing coffee cherries purchased from over 1800 farmers in the Gitesi sector of Rwanda’s Western province. The two are a great representation of a generational evolution in coffee. Alexis comes from generations of farmers in the Karongi district where Gitesi lies; Aime, an engineering grad, designed the station’s advanced water purification system.

Competition for cherry is stiff in this region, so the loyalty that Gitesi has with their farmer partners speaks to their integrity. The business reinforces their bond with this community by facilitating health insurance, distributing seedlings and farm supplies, and issuing bonus payments to farmers who produce higher quality lots.

Champagne-like crispness and delicate florality make Gitesi a celebration"
