For many professional baristas, spotting the name Worka will instantly trigger fond memories of intoxicating florals and undeniable sweetness, so it usually doesn't take long before they're reading the back of the bag in search of more information.
When we see a bag of specialty coffee from Ethiopia it will often have the name of the washing station or co-operative printed right on the front. Sometimes, if we're lucky, we are provided with the name of the contributing community listed right beside it. In this case we see "Worka" front-and-centre but look a little deeper and you'll see that this is a picking from the producers that live around the village of Chelbesa.
The Worka producer co-operative own multiple washing stations scattered around Gedeb. Coffees from this region are iconic. Huge florals, distinct flavors of black tea and with a citrus-y aroma that just doesn't give up.
True to form, Coffee Collective has kept this roast light and bright. The texture is elegant, the acidity is tame and if you ask us, it's one to drink fresh (don't go sitting on this for 6 weeks in hope that it will "open up" like some other light roasts have a habit of doing).
