A sweet syrupy Caturra with notes of orange, plum and raspberry.

/

Caturra is one of our favorite coffee varieties. It shows deep, concentrated sweetness and juicy acidity that will make you salivate.

It was once common to see fields of Caturra growing in Colombia but after years of destruction caused by leaf rust, older, less disease-resistant varieties like Caturra are now being replaced with safer hybrids and natural mutations.

This particular lot was dry-fermented; a common practice of farmers in the region. Dry fermentation often encourages flavors similar to a honey processed coffee. We liken it to dried fruit, orange and raisin.

At Finca Buenavista, Alcidez Avendano dries his parchment on raised beds for 20-25 days until it is ready to be delivered to a central dry mill.

This coffee is rich and complex with juicy plum notes and raspberry brightness. In the cup, the mouthfeel is syrupy and the sweetness lingers long after you put it down.
